The Audio Technology Behind the Mysterious Space-Time Wonderland
PART 01
This battery-powered testing device features a pink noise generator and power amplifier, along with various speaker connectors, enabling detailed testing of 8-pin and 4-pin speaker interfaces, as well as 1/4" TS jack and banana plug speaker cables.
By adjusting the Cab Driver’s pink noise level control, users can test speaker drivers across different frequency bands individually.
In addition to the Cab Driver, Instructor Xiaofei also detailed the uses of the Qbox. Since its introduction in 1997, the Qbox has become one of Whirlwind’s most successful “black boxes”—a compact, all-in-one audio line tester that has garnered widespread acclaim from industry professionals.
The Qbox is suitable for live sound, maintenance, installation, and any scenario involving audio cable deployment. It includes a built-in microphone, test signal generator, standard headphone output, 1/4" TRS line input, and a 2k-ohm (telephone line impedance) handset output. With its signal generator section, users can quickly inject or monitor audio signals at any point in the system—from microphones to power amplifiers—enabling fast identification of working and non-working segments. It allows checking dynamic microphones and line-level signals without powering up the entire system. Beyond setup and troubleshooting, it can also serve as a portable active monitor.

PART 02
Super Concert 56-Splitter
suitable for various large-scale tour venues, concerts, music festivals or other scenarios
For this performance, the signal transmission required a high number of channels. The system offered 56 microphone input channels, which were directly connected to a multicore main output and routed through top-tier Whirlwind TRSP-2F transformers into two isolated multicore outputs (ISO 1 and ISO 2). Each microphone input featured an individual ground lift switch. Additionally, two of the input connectors were equipped with parallel-thru ports. The XLR connectors were gold-plated, while the multicore ends utilized high-strength, military-grade Whirlwind multipin connectors. These features significantly enhanced the safety and stability of the system, ensuring reliable performance throughout the show. Despite its advanced capabilities, the system remained user-friendly. Its tool-free quick-disconnect multicore system allowed for true plug-and-play operation, and the color-coded multipin connectors made signal routing intuitive and efficient—streamlining workflow and reducing setup complexity.
Moreover, there are some highly cost-effective and practical equipment peripherals that are also well worth recommending.

Practical and good items are everywhere
When it comes to moving and transporting large-scale equipment on-site, relying solely on manual labor is highly impractical. Durable Universal-Truss aluminum panel carts and rain covers for outdoor amplifier shelters are essential accessories for every crew.
