Recently, the Roland FANTOM 7 EX and FANTOM 8 EX flagship synthesizers made a notable appearance on stage during the Macau tour stops of K-pop superstars G-DRAGON of BIGBANG and J-Hope of BTS. These versatile instruments clearly demonstrate impressive live performance capabilities. Today, we take a closer look at what makes them so compelling.
《G-DRAGON 2025 WORLD TOUR》
"K-pop King" G-DRAGON made a powerful comeback to the music scene with his new album Übermensch. Amid fervent anticipation from fans, his 2025 WORLD TOUR officially kicked off, marking his grand return after an eight-year hiatus. His enduring popularity swept across Asia, evidenced by the instant sell-out of the originally scheduled June 7–8 shows in Macao—a testament to his irreplaceable status among fans. In response to overwhelming demand, organizer TME Live (Tencent Music's Ultra Live) quickly announced an additional show on June 6. Ultimately, G-Dragon delivered three consecutive electrifying nights at Macao’s Galaxy Arena, creating unforgettable memories with fans from around the world and presenting a revolutionary audio-visual spectacle that shattered all sensory expectations.

《j-hope Tour ‘HOPE ON THE STAGE’ 》
J-Hope, a member of the globally renowned K-pop group BTS, brought his debut solo world tour to Macao in May, igniting the stage at the Galaxy Arena. As part of one of the world's most popular boy bands, each member of BTS carries a unique charm and distinctive personal style. Known for his outstanding dance abilities and exceptional musical talent, J-Hope has earned numerous awards and is widely regarded as an influential figure in Korean hip-hop. The Macao concert captivated eagerly awaiting ARMYs with an electrifying performance that filled the venue with resounding cheers and unforgettable energy.

The hardware and user interface of FANTOM EX were developed in collaboration with renowned synthesizer designer Axel Hartmann. It supports every user's creative journey with free-flowing operation and exceptional performance capabilities, delivering endless expressiveness and playability.
In live performances, enhanced playing experience has an undeniable impact on the overall effect. FANTOM EX models are equipped with high-quality keyboard performance feedback (supporting channel aftertouch). The FANTOM 8 EX used in these two shows features an 88-note weighted keyboard that delivers a premium fully weighted experience with hammer-action mechanism, while the 76-note FANTOM 7 EX is outfitted with a semi-weighted synthesizer keyboard. These inspiring keyboard designs embody decades of Roland's R&D expertise, delivering expressive playing experiences that ignite creativity.
The FANTOM EX is equipped with an array of knobs and faders that deliver intuitive, real-time control with high resolution, enabling smooth sweeps and precise fine-tuning. Its synth section includes oscillators, filters, and envelope controls, along with numerous buttons and pads for triggering and editing sequences—all designed to inspire creativity. Additionally, the FANTOM EX supports connecting up to three standard USB MIDI controllers for expanded workflow possibilities. These features enhance onstage expression, making the FANTOM EX a preferred choice for professional keyboardists, music producers, and synth enthusiasts alike—and the reason why it was selected by both acclaimed musical artists.
