The Whirlwind MICMUTE pp Microphone Mute Box features passive switching functionality, allowing push-button control to mute or unmute microphone or balanced line signals.

The product line includes three models covering basic microphone control functions. Each model offers two activation options: foot-operated (models PT, PM, PP) and desktop push-button (models PTD, PMD, PPD).

Each mute box contains one female XLR input and one male XLR output. When no signal passes through the mute box, the output remains muted from the connected input device. All microphone mute box models can pass phantom power for condenser microphone applications.

Each press and release of the switch (PP) or toggle switch (PPD) changes the signal state. The PP and PPD models feature an indicator LED that activates when phantom power is provided by the connected microphone preamplifier input. A blue LED illuminates to indicate the microphone is active and signal is passing through the mute box. When phantom power is absent, the LED remains off.
